Coin participates in ritual but does not contain the magic
Both scripts separate an ordinary coin from the invisible force attributed to the ritual around it.
What this relationship type claims
reuses the mechanism of. A repeatable dramatic device recurs while surface content changes. Distinct from plot-mirror, which aligns a whole sequence of beats.

The earlier side
Theo produces a quarter from Beth’s mouth; the episode calls it a “magic mouth coin.” Beth later learns the quarter was hidden in Theo’s other hand, so the object’s magic exists through performance and belief.

What changes on the way
Magic prop whose power collapses under explanation becomes wishing token explicitly separated from the wish itself.
The changed element is part of the evidence rather than noise. A function can move to a different character, a power relation can reverse, several sources can combine, and the same mechanism can produce a different result.
